"Obedience to gravity, the greatest sin" (Simone Weil) is not committed by seabirds so much. They are free in many ways, super intelligent and loving, but can also be cruel, as described by Adam Nicolson in his wonderful book "The seabird's cry". Gannets I have seen on the Bass Rock, a tiny island in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. There are about 150000 of them nesting from early spring to autumn each year. I tried to capture their character, though it is an impossible task to complete.
